Constitution Article 19A: Right to information

Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973

What this section covers

Official heading: Right to information

Every citizen has the right to access information in all matters of public importance, subject to regulation and reasonable restrictions imposed by law.

Part of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973. Pakistan's supreme law. Article 19 guarantees freedom of speech and of the press, and Article 19A the right to information, but both are subject to 'reasonable restrictions imposed by law'. The criminal laws below are such restrictions, and courts hearing speech cases weigh them against these articles.
