What this section covers

Official heading: Freedom of speech, etc.

Guarantees freedom of speech and of the press, subject to 'reasonable restrictions imposed by law' (e.g. in the interest of the glory of Islam, security of Pakistan, public order, decency or morality).

Part of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973. Pakistan's supreme law. Article 19 guarantees freedom of speech and of the press, and Article 19A the right to information, but both are subject to 'reasonable restrictions imposed by law'. The criminal laws below are such restrictions, and courts hearing speech cases weigh them against these articles.
