Note: Blasphemy cases are frequently underreported due to fear of mob violence and judicial
intimidation. This map reflects only publicly reported cases.
Note: Many enforced disappearances go unreported due to fear of state retaliation. This map
reflects only publicly reported cases.
Insights
Every chart follows the filters in the sidebar. Change the years, province or source and the
charts redraw; each map's own checkboxes narrow its section.
Incidents per year, all mapsThe whole timeline at a glance, one coloured band per map
Stacked: the top edge of the coloured bands is the total across the five incident maps.
Gov Takedowns counts platform requests, not incidents, so it has its own section below.

Removal requests from Pakistani authoritiesRequests each platform received, per half-year
Per half-year, as each platform reports it. Meta publishes no request count.
Items removed or restrictedPosts, videos and accounts acted on, per half-year
Follows the Timeline filter, and the Platform filter on the Gov Takedowns view.
Charts count the verified incidents that match the sidebar filters. Laws, platforms,
targets, durations and groups are read automatically from each report, so they are approximate and undercount;
an incident naming two counts under each. With a province chosen, nationwide shutdowns stay in, as on the map.
Government takedown requests
What Pakistani authorities asked Meta (Facebook, Instagram), Google (incl. YouTube), TikTok
and X (Twitter) to remove or block, and what the platforms did, as each platform reports it every six months.
Removal requests received from Pakistani authorities
Meta does not publish how many requests it receives, only what it restricted.
Items removed or restricted (posts, videos, accounts)
Includes items a platform removed under its own rules after a government request.
X counts accounts and posts withheld or actioned; Google, items removed.
Compliance rate (%)
Each platform measures this differently (share of requests acted on for X and Google
before 2019; share of items for Google from 2019 and TikTok), so compare trends, not levels. Meta
publishes no rate.

What the figures count
What the PTA told courts and Parliament
The PTA's own count of the links it reported to each platform and how many were
blocked, from its court reports and Senate or National Assembly briefings as news reports quote them. The
blocking rate is the PTA's measure (links blocked of those it reported), not the platform's compliance rate
above. Totals are usually cumulative since the PTA began counting, not per half-year.

Figures are the platforms' own and are not checked independently. Coverage differs:
X has published no Pakistan figures since H2 2021, and TikTok's figures in this format start in H1 2022.
"—" means the platform did not publish that figure. The PTA's figures are read automatically from news
reports, which sometimes misprint them; check the quote and the source. See Methodology for each source.
